Kathrin Stauffer, PhD, UKCP registered Body and Integrative Psychotherapist, was born and educated in Switzerland. Originally trained as a biochemist, she became more and more interested in describing the human organism from a subjective rather than an objective point of view, and thus retrained as a body psychotherapist with the Chiron Centre in London and Cambridge. She works in private practice in Cambridge, offering individual psychotherapy, EMDR and supervision for psychotherapists and counsellors. She has taught Anatomy and Physiology at several body psychotherapy training institutes. Occasionally she teaches as a guest tutor at other training institutes, recently at the Instituto Português de Psicoterapia Corporal and the Institute of Somatic Psychotherapy Australia. She is a past Chair of the Chiron Association for Body Psychotherapists and Chair of the Council of National Associations of the European Association for Body Psychotherapy. Currently she serves on the board of the UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners. She is also a member of the Association of Biodynamic Massage Therapists, The Relational School and the EMDR Association UK and Ireland. She holds a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Her book, Anatomy & Physiology for Psychotherapists: Connecting Body & Soul, was published by W.W. Norton in September 2010. A second book, Emotional Neglect and the Adult in Therapy: Lifelong Consequences to a Lack of Early Attunement, was published in 2020, also by W.W. Norton.
